Great to have 28 along for the first night of 9’s last Monday.
Week 2 on Monday 17th of November looks to be benefitted by some heavy weekend rain. We are hoping for a good drop to soften the grounds and then have the rain clear by Monday evening.
The ground was great, game played in good spirits and the umpiring from Big Rog was excellent.
Jonesy will be back this Monday though and he will take back the whistle and ensure that our no tackling/minimal contact rules are strictly followed. We are also hoping to locate our red tops so that the two teams can be easily identified.
The committee will be meeting this Wednesday, 19th November at the Duke Hotel in Sydney Road. If anyone missed out on getting to the AGM and would like to help out during the season, please let me know and you are welcome to come along on Wed night. I also encourage anyone who has skills that would be valuable to us to also let myself another of the committee members know. There are two key areas that the playing group can help us with in the lead up to Xmas. Please check these out and contact any of the committee with thoughts or ideas.
1. Senior coaching role in the club.We are still looking for a Supers and Masters coach for the season and would like to have them appointed before the holiday break. We are confident that the Masters role will be sorted out soon and this just leaves the No. 1 job. Have a think about anyone you know or put the feelers out with your network to see if we can find that person. This is a really important role, so we are looking for someone who can portray the club values and culture whilst improving our “younger” playing group, as well as having the ability to attract some new players to the club.
2. Recruiting. The club numbers are quite good and if we can boost the Supers by 6-8 players it will take the pressure off everyone. Masters will fill up easily from the older Supers players and 45’s had very good numbers last year.
Once again have a think about your friends, men at your gym, Auskick dads, work colleagues, etc. Bringing them down for Monday 9’s or Wed pre Xmas training is the best introduction as the warmer weather and laid back atmosphere is a great time to meet everyone.
Book out the following in your calendars.
Monday nights through to Dec 22nd for 9’s.
Please let your friends know that we are NOT playing in a COMPETITION as some people tend to think that is what we are doing on a Monday night.
It is just a scratch match on the night with whoever turns up.
Wed nights. Footy training starts on Nov 26th and goes through to Dec 17th.
Lots of touches and all the running is done with the footies to keep interest to a max.
See you Monday night. - Will
